  • WHAT HAPPENED?

After Danny Welbeck broke the deadlock in the first half for Brighton, Amad Diallo brought United back into the game with a brilliant strike just on the hour mark. Ten minutes later, Alejandro Garnacho thought that he had handed his team the lead. However, when he scored from the tightest of angles, his effort took a flick off team-mate and summer signing Zirkzee – who happened to be in an offside position mere centimetres from the goal line.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Joao Pedro eventually scored a last-minute goal to hand the Seagulls a crucial three points against the Premier League giants. Red Devils custodian Andre Onana was understandably disappointed with the result, however, he did not want to blame new signing Zirkzee for costing the team a vital goal.

  • WHAT ANDRE ONANA SAID

Speaking to the club's official media channel, the Cameroonian goalkeeper said: "We came here to win, unfortunately we didn’t win. We had a great game, I think we were better than them, we had more chances, we had more possession, we had more control of the game. Unfortunately, they disallowed us a goal, but that’s part of football, that’s part of life, we have to move on."
