ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The New England Revolution are reportedly exploring a potential deal to bring U.S. men's national team goalkeeper back to the club, according to
The Revs are hoping to bring Turner on loan to the club, though it's uncertain how any deal would come about. The 31-year-old reportedly agreed to a transfer from Nottingham Forest to Lyon for $9.42M in France in June.
However, Lyon were subsequently relegated to Ligue 2. After a successful appeal they were reinstated. Financial concerns remain, though, and Lyon is reportedly looking to cancel the deal with Forest.
Lyon reportedly hired lawyers to end the contract. This past week, however, the French club sold their starting goalkeeper, Lucas Perri, to Leeds United for a reported fee of $20.8M, potentially opening a roster spot for Turner.
Any loan move to the Revolution would be difficult, as it's unknown if he would join from Lyon or Nottingham Forest – and who would be on the hook to cover a potential salary.
Turner played for the Revolution for four seasons from 2018 to 2022 until he earned a move abroad to Arsenal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Turner spent the 2024-25 season on loan from Forest with Crystal Palace in the English Premier League, where he made four appearances for the club across all competitions. Palace won the FA Cup, and Turner made three appearances in that tournament.
Internationally, Turner has been the starting goalkeeper for the USMNT since the 2022 FIFA World Cup. At the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, he was benched in favor of NYCFC goalkeeper Matt Freese.

WHAT NEXT FOR TURNER?
It remains to be seen where Turner ends up next, but a transfer away from Forest seems inevitable.
